India D(hon)isappointed; The iSLanders triumph

India (Shar)made just one change to their playing eleven – Ravindra Jadeja made way for Rohit. Sri Lanka made no changes to the eleven that last played the Indians.

On winning the toss, Kumar Sangakkara, Sri Lanka’s skipper, chose to bat. Their openers put on 50 off 9.1 overs (56 balls). India had conceded eight extras at that point. While Mahela Jayawardene’s contribution to the partnership was 14, the contribution of Tillakaratne Dilshan, the player of the match, to it was 29.

The second Powerplay of Sri Lanka’s innings was between the 11th and the 15th over. Fifteen overs into the match, the first drinks break was taken. While Jayawardene was batting on 31, Dilshan was batting on 49.

Dilshan’s half-century – which included eight boundaries and a six – came off 36 balls.

Sri Lanka’s openers put on 100 off 15.4 overs (97 balls). India had conceded 14 extras at that point. While Jayawardene’s contribution to the partnership was 32, Dilshan’s contribution to it was 55.

Jayawardene, whose 67-ball innings included five boundaries, eventually scored 39. A hundred and twenty-two legal balls into the match, he was caught by Dinesh Karthik. Ishant Sharma broke the 121-run partnership.

Upul Tharanga, whose (Dho)nine-ball innings included a boundary, scored half-a-dozen. Twenty balls later, he was caught by Mahendra Singh, India's skipper. Yuvraj Singh broke the 11-run stand.

Sri Lanka scored 150 off 27.3 overs (169 balls). India had conceded 15 extras at that point.

Thirty-two overs into the match, the second drinks break was taken. Sri Lanka had scored 171 for the loss of a couple of wickets at that point. While Dilshan was batting on 95, Sangakkara was batting on 16.

The third-wicket pair put on 50 off 64 balls. While Dilshan’s contribution to the partnership was 24, Sangakkara’s contribution to it was 25. Extras’ contribution to the partnership was a run.

Dilshan’s ton – which included 11 boundaries and a six – came off 107 balls.

Sri Lanka scored 200 off 37.1 overs (229 balls). India had conceded 17 extras at that point.

The third Powerplay of Sri Lanka’s innings was between the 40th and the 44th over.

Dilshan, whose 115-ball included a dozen boundaries, in addition to the six, eventually scored 110. Ninety-seven balls after Tharanga’s dismissal, he was caught by Ishant. Praveen Kumar broke the 85-run partnership.

Chamara Kapugedera, whose 10-ball innings included a couple of boundaries, scored a dozen. Sixteen balls later, he was caught by Karthik. Ashish Nehra broke the 25-run stand.

Sangakkara’s half-century – which included four boundaries and a six – came off 51 balls.

Sri Lanka scored 250 off 43.3 overs (269 balls). India had conceded 20 extras at that point.

Angelo Mathews, who faced four balls, scored a run. Nine balls after Kapugedera’s dismissal, he was caught by Rohit. Ishant broke the 16-run stand.

Sangakkara, whose 62-ball innings included seven boundaries, in addition to the six, eventually scored 71. Four balls later, he was caught by Rohit. Munaf Patel broke the three-run stand.

Chamara Silva, whose 21-ball innings included a couple of boundaries, scored 26. He was unbeaten.

Thisara Perera, who faced eight balls, scored half-a-dozen. Twenty-seven balls after Sangakkara’s dismissal, he was caught by Dhoni. Patel broke the 33-run stand.

The eighth-wicket pair put on (Rand)IV. Suraj, who faced four balls, scored as many. His runs came by way of a boundary. Four balls later, Patel ran him out. Nuwan Kulasekara, who didn’t face a ball, was unbeaten.

India eventually conceded 24 extras. Sri Lanka scored 299 for the loss of eight wickets off 50 overs. Virender Sehwag, the player of the series, bowled five wicketless overs, conceding 21. Yuvraj, who bowled eight overs, conceded 37. He picked up a wicket.

Kumar and Nehra bowled 10 overs each, picked up a wicket apiece. While the former conceded 72, the latter conceded 60. Ishant, who bowled eight overs, conceding 54. He picked up a couple of scalps, as was Patel, who bowled nine overs, including a maiden. He conceded 43.

Karthik, who faced a couple of balls, didn’t get off the mark. An over into the chase, he was caught by Sangakkara. Lasith Malinga broke the nine-run stand. The second-wicket pair put on 29. Sehwag, whose 22-ball innings included half-a-dozen boundaries, scored 28. Five overs later, Kapugedera ran him out.

India scored 50 off 8.4 overs (55 balls). Sri Lanka had conceded three extras at that point.

The third-wicket pair put on 50 off 55 balls. While Virat Kohli’s contribution to the partnership was 22, Yuvraj’s contribution to it was 26. Extras’ contribution to the partnership was a couple.

India scored 150 off 29.3 overs (182 balls). Sri Lanka had conceded half-a-dozen extras at that point.

Suresh Raina, whose 28-ball innings included a boundary and a couple of sixes, scored 29. Fifty-seven balls later, he was caught by Dilshan. Randiv broke the 49-run stand.

A hundred and eighty-four balls into the chase, the second drinks break was taken. India had scored 158 for the loss of five wickets at that point. Dhoni was batting on 32.

Rohit, who faced nine balls, scored five. Twenty-one balls later, he was stumped by Sangakkara. Randiv broke the 19-run stand.

India scored 200 off 37.4 overs (234 balls). Sri Lanka had conceded 13 extras at that point.

Dhoni’s half-century – which included four boundaries – came off 67 balls.

Kumar, whose 16-ball innings included a boundary and a six, scored 14. Twenty-three balls later, Malinga broke the 24-run stand. Ishant, who faced a dozen balls, didn’t get off the mark. Twenty-three balls later, Perera broke the nine-run stand.

Nehra had no reason to be in seventh heaven – he scored just a couple. Twenty-four balls later, he was caught by Perera. Mathews broke the 14-run stand. Dhoni, whose 100-ball innings included five boundaries and a six, eventually scored 67. Half-a-dozen balls later, Randiv broke the one-run stand.

Patel, who faced a ball, failed to get off the mark. He was unbeaten.

Sri Lanka eventually conceded 17 extras. India, who were dismissed for 225 off 46.5 overs, lost by 74 runs. Kulasekara, who bowled nine wicketless overs, conceded 47. Mathews, who bowled 10 overs, conceded 48. He picked up a wicket.

Malinga, who bowled nine overs, conceded 49. He picked up a couple of wickets. Perera bowled nine overs, including a couple of maidens. He conceded 36, picking up three wickets. Randiv bowled 9.5 overs, including a maiden. He conceded 40, picking up three scalps.

Sri Lanka won the 2010 Sri Lanka Triangular Series.
