Dhoni-led India don’t WIn

India made just one change to their playing eleven – Ishant (Shar)made way for Praveen Kumar. The West Indies just one change to the (Lion)eleven that last played the Indians – Baker made way for Ravi Rampaul, the player of the match.

On winning the toss, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, chose to bat. Dinesh Karthik, who faced five balls, scored four. Five balls (Ramd)into the match, he was caught by Denesh. Jerome Taylor broke the four-run stand.

Gautam Gambhir, who faced a couple of balls, didn’t get off the mark. Three balls later, he was caught by Ramdin. Rampaul broke the two-run stand. Rohit Sharma, who faced a couple of balls, didn’t get off the mark. A couple of balls later, he was caught by Runako Morton. Rampaul broke the one-run stand.

The second Powerplay of India’s innings was between the 11th and the 15th over. They scored 50 off 11 overs (69 balls). The West Indies had conceded three extras at that point.

Yuvraj Singh, whose 33-ball innings included five boundaries and a six, scored 35. Sixty-three balls after Rohit’s dismissal, he was caught by Ramdin. Taylor broke the 47-run stand.

The West Indies eventually conceded 16 extras. India were dismissed for 188 off 48.2 overs. Gayle bowled three wicketless overs, conceding 13. David Bernard bowled seven wicketless overs, conceding 36. Benn bowled 10 wicketless overs, including a maiden. He conceded 37.

Dwayne, who bowled nine overs, conceded 26. He picked up three wickets, as did Taylor, who bowled 9.2 overs, conceding 35. Rampaul bowled 10 overs, including two maidens. He conceded 37, picking up four scalps.

The West Indies’ openers put on 50 off eight overs (48 balls). India had conceded four extras at that point. While Gayle’s contribution to the partnership was 35, Morton’s contribution to it was 14. Gayle’s half-century – which included seven boundaries and a six – came off 37 balls.

India eventually conceded 10 extras. The West Indies, who scored 192 for the loss of a couple of wickets off 34.1 overs, won by eight wickets with 95 balls to spare.

Pathan and Jadeja bowled a couple of wicketless overs apiece. While the former conceded 15, the latter conceded 12. R P, who bowled three wicketless overs, conceded 15. Nehra, who bowled four wicketless overs, conceded 36.

Kumar bowled seven wicketless overs, including a maiden. He conceded 37. Harbhajan, who bowled 8.1 wicketless overs, conceding 45. Sharma, who bowled eight overs, conceded 27. He picked up both the wickets that fell.

The four-match series was level 1-1.
