Dhoni shines; India beat Bangladesh

While India made no changes to their playing eleven, Bangladesh made five changes to their playing (Rub)eleven – Nazimuddin, Alok Kapali, Farhad Reza, Mashrafe Mortaza and Shahadat Hossain made way for Imrul Kayes, Shakib Al Hasan (who was leading the team), Naeem Islam, Hossain and Syed Rasel.

On winning the toss, Shakib chose to bat. Bangladesh’s openers scored 50 off 7.4 overs (48 balls). India had conceded a couple of extras at that point. While Tamim Iqbal was batting on 41, Kayes had scored just eight.

Iqbal’s half-century – which included eight boundaries and a six – came off 33 balls. He eventually scored 60 off 42 balls, which included 10 boundaries and a six. Eleven overs into the match, he was caught by Gautam Gambhir. Sreesanth broke the 80-run partnership.

The second Powerplay of Bangladesh's innings was between the 12th and the 16th over. They scored 100 off 15 overs (96 balls). The number of extras India had conceded at that point gave them no reason to be in seventh heaven.
