India (Tendulk)aren’t the WInners again

Neither team made changes to its playing eleven. On winning the toss, Brian Lara, the West Indies’ skipper, inserted the Indians, whose openers didn’t get off the mark.

Rahul Dravid, whose 124-ball innings included eight boundaries and a couple of sixes, scored 103. While his 50 came off 86 balls, and included five boundaries, his century came off 122 balls. He reached 3,000 One-day International runs when on 52. He was unbeaten.

Sourav Ganguly, whose 67-ball innings included half-a-dozen boundaries, scored 46. A hundred and five balls later, he was caught by Mervyn Dillon. Nehemiah Perry broke the 78-run partnership.

Vinod Kambli, who faced five balls, scored a run. Eight balls later, he was stumped by Ridley Jacobs. Perry broke the three-run stand.

Nikhil Chopra, whose 60-ball innings included three boundaries and as many sixes, scored 61. His 50 came off 52 balls, and included all the three boundaries and a couple of sixes. Ninety-six balls later, he was caught by Jacobs. Perry broke the 102-run partnership.

Robin Singh, who faced three balls, scored a couple. Eight balls later, he was caught by the substitute, Adrian Griffith. Jimmy Adams broke the 14-run stand. Sunil Joshi, whose 14-ball innings included a boundary, scored 13. He was unbeaten.

The West Indies conceded 15 extras. India scored 254 for the loss of six wickets off 50 overs. Bryan, who bowled half-a-dozen overs, conceded 30, He was wicketless, as was Dillon, who bowled nine overs, conceding 46.

Adams, who bowled seven overs, conceded 45. He picked up a wicket. The Guyanese bowled eight overs, including a maiden. He conceded 44, picKing up a wicket. Ricardo, the P(owel)layer of the match and the player of the series, scored 124. His 93-ball innings included nine boundaries and eight sixes. His 50 came off 44 balls, and included four boundaries and three sixes, and his century came off 72 balls, and included seven boundaries and as many sixes. A hundred and fourteen balls later, he was caught by Dravid. Mohanty broke the 118-run partnership.

Perry, whose 62-ball innings included four boundaries, scored 38. He was unbeaten, as was Bryan, who scored half-a-dozen. His eight-ball innings included a boundary. India conceded seven extras. The West Indies, who scored 255 for the loss of six wickets off 47.4 overs, won by four wickets with 14 balls to spare.

Ganguly, who bowled a wicketless over, conceded 13. Joshi and Venkatesh Prasad bowled 10 wicketless overs apiece. While the former, whose spell included a maiden, conceded 63, the latter conceded 50.

Kumble bowled 10 overs, including a maiden. He conceded 51, picking up a wicket. Chopra, who bowled eight overs, conceded 43. He picked up a couple of wickets. Mohanty bowled 8.4 overs, including a maiden. He conceded 33, picking up three scalps.

The West Indies won the 1999 Coca-Cola Singapore Challenge.
