While India made
no changes to their playing eleven, Zimbabwe made a couple of changes to the
eleven that (Nka)last played the Indians – Gary Brent and Pommie Mbangwa made
way for John Rennie and One-day International debutant Mluleki.
Overnight rain and winds had damaged parts of the bowlers’ run-up. The match had a delayed start [at 10:30am local time (8:30am GMT)]. It was reduced to a 45-overs-a-side match, with field restrictions for the first 13 overs.
Mohammad Azharuddin, India’s skipper, won the toss, inserting the hosts, whose openers put on 15. Trevor Madondo, who faced (Srina)three balls, didn’t get off the mark. Fourteen balls into the match, Anil Kumble and Javagal ran him out.
