While India made
no changes to their playing eleven, New Zealand made one change to the eleven
that last played the Indians – Chris Drum made way for Simon Doull. On winning
the toss, Mohammad Azharuddin, India’s skipper, inserted the hosts.
Bryan Young, who faced a couple of balls, didn’t get off the mark. Four balls into the match, Javagal Srinath broke the one-run stand. Matt Horne, who faced four balls, scored a run. Nine balls later, he was caught by Azharuddin. Needless to say, Srinath was in seventh heaven.
