India En(glan)d their (Suni)losing streak

India made a couple of changes to their playing eleven – Yashpal Sharma and Rajinder Singh Ghai were replaced by debutant Lalchand Rajput and Manoj Prabhakar. England made three changes to theirs – Tim Robinson, Richard Ellison and Neil Foster made way for debutants Martyn Moxon, Chris Cowdrey and Jonathan Agnew.

Sunil Gavaskar, India's skipper, put the visitors in on winning the toss. Graeme Fowler scored 37. His 59-ball innings included three boundaries. Ravi Shastri broke the 70-run partnership.
