India, the champioNZ, are Devastated

Both the teams made a couple of changes apiece to their playing eleven. Sunil Gavaskar and Laxman Sivaramakrishnan with Dilip Vengsarkar and Shivlal Yadav, while Martin Snedden and Stu Gillespie made way for Stephen Boock and John Bracewell. New Zealand skipper Jeremy Coney chose to field on winning the toss.
