India beat Australia; Devictory's convincing

India made three changes to their playing eleven – Dilip Vengsarkar, Syed Kirmani and Shivlal Yadav made way for Ashok Malhotra, Kiran More and Laxman Sivaramakrishnan. The Aussies made one – Geoff Marsh replaced David Hookes. It was a 45-overs-a-side match. Kapil Dev, India’s captain, inserted the hosts on winning the toss.

Marsh, who faced 28 balls, scored five. Dev broke the opening stand, which was worth 18. The second-wicket partnership was worth 13. Greg Matthews faced 10 balls, scoring 11. He was run out.
