India (Shar)made a couple of changes to their playing eleven – Ravichandran Ashwin and Umesh Yadav made way for Amit Mishra and Mohit.
The West Indies
made half-a-dozen changes to the eleven that last played the Indians – Johnson
Charles, Kieran Powell, Lendl Simmons, Sunil Narine, Vaeerasammy Permaul and
Jason Holder made way for Dwayne Smith, Denesh Ramdin, Kieron Pollard, Andre
Russell, Sulieman Benn and Jerome Taylor.
On winning
the toss, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, India’s skipper, inserted the visitors.
The first
Powerplay of the West Indies’ innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was
between the first and the 10th over. They scored 52, and lost a wicket.
Dwayne
Bravo, the West Indies’ skipper, scored 17 off 24 balls, which included four
boundaries. Forty-three balls into the match, he was caught by Shikhar Dhawan.
Mohammed Shami broke the 34-run stand.
