India D(hon)isappoint the Englishmen again

India made just one change to their playing eleven – Rohit (Shar)made way for Ambati Rayudu.

England made just one change to the eleven that last played the Indians – Chris Jordan made way for Steven Finn.

On winning the toss, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, India’s skipper, inserted the hosts.

The first Powerplay of England’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the 10th over. They scored 48, without the loss of a wicket.

England’s openers put on 50 off 10.4 overs (64 balls). India had conceded an extra at that point. While Alastair Cook, their skipper, was batting on 24, Alex Hales was batting on 25.

Hales, whose 55-ball innings included five boundaries, eventually scored 42. Eighteen overs into the match, he was caught by Dhoni. Suresh Raina broke the 82-run partnership.

It was at that point that the first drinks break was taken. Cook was batting on 39.

Cook, whose 65-ball innings included four boundaries, eventually scored 44. Seventeen balls after Hales’ dismissal, he was stumped by Dhoni. Rayudu broke the 11-run stand.

Joe Root had no reason to be in seventh heaven – he scored just a couple. Eleven balls later, he was stumped by Dhoni. Ravindra Jadeja broke the four-run stand.

England scored 100 off 23.5 overs (143 balls). India had conceded a couple of extras at that point.

Eoin Morgan, who faced 18 balls, scored 10. Twenty-six balls after Root’s dismissal, he was caught by Dhoni. Ravichandran Ashwin, the player of the match, broke the 23-run stand.

The fifth-wicket pair put on 18. Ian Bell, who faced 38 balls, scored 28. Thirty-two balls later, Mohit Sharma ran him out.

The second Powerplay of England’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the 36th and the 40th over. They scored a dozen, for the loss of a wicket.

Ben Stokes had no reason to be in seventh heaven – he scored just a couple. Fourteen balls after Bell’s dismissal, he was caught by Raina. Ashwin broke the 11-run stand.

England scored 150 off 35.5 overs (215 balls). India had conceded four extras at that point.

Thirty-seven overs into the match, the second drinks break was taken. England had scored 153 for the loss of half-a-dozen wickets at that point. While Jos Buttler was batting on 18, Chris Woakes was batting on three.

Woakes, who faced 27 balls, scored 15. Fifty-six balls after Stokes’ dismissal, he was caught by Mohit. Mohammed Shami broke the 33-run stand.

England scored 200 off 47.1 overs (283 balls). India had conceded five extras at that point.

Buttler, whose 58-ball innings included three boundaries, eventually scored 42. Fourteen balls after Woakes’ dismissal, Ashwin broke the 20-run stand.

James Tredwell, whose 18-ball innings included four boundaries and a six, scored 30. Fifteen balls later, he was caught by Kumar, who broke the 24-run stand.

The last-wicket pair put on a run. Finn, who faced eight balls, scored half-a-dozen. The next ball, Rayudu and Dhoni ran him out.

James Anderson, who didn’t face a ball, was unbeaten.

India eventually conceded half-a-dozen extras. England were dismissed for 227 off 50 overs. Mohit bowled three wicketless overs, conceding 17.

Rayudu bowled two overs, conceding eight. He picked up a wicket. Kumar and Raina bowled eight overs each, picking up a wicket apiece. While the former conceded 45, the latter conceded 37. Shami bowled nine overs, conceding 40. He picked up a wicket. Jadeja bowled 10 overs, conceding 38. He picked up a wicket.

Ashwin, who bowled 10 overs, conceded 39. He picked up three scalps.

It was at that point that the first drinks break was taken. India had scored 85 for the loss of a couple of extras at that point. Kohli was batting on 21.

India scored 100 off 22.2 overs (134 balls). England had conceded four extras at that point.

Kohli, whose 50-ball innings included a couple of boundaries and a six, eventually scored 40. Forty-six balls after Rahane’s dismissal, he was caught by Tredwell. Stokes broke the 35-run stand.

India scored 150 off 31.1 overs (187 balls). England had conceded five extras at that point.

The fourth-wicket pair put on 50 off 53 balls. While Rayudu’s contribution to the partnership was 20, Raina’s contribution to it was 26. Extras’ contribution to the partnership was four.

The second Powerplay of India’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the 36th and the 40th over. They scored 34, without the loss of a wicket.

Thirty-six overs into the match, the second drinks break was taken. India had scored 178 for the loss of three wickets at that point. While Rayudu was batting on 39, Raina was batting on 30.

Rayudu’s half-century – which included five boundaries – came off 63 balls. He eventually scored 64 off 78 balls, which included half-a-dozen boundaries. He was unbeaten.

India scored 200 off 37.5 overs (227 balls). England had conceded nine extras at that point. That was, incidentally, the number of extras they eventually conceded.

Raina, whose run-a-ball innings included five boundaries, scored 42. Eighty-nine balls after Kohli’s dismissal, he was caught by Woakes. Tredwell broke the 87-run partnership.

Jadeja, whose nine-ball innings included a boundary, scored a dozen. He was unbeaten.

India, who scored 228 for the loss of four wickets off 43 overs, won by half-a-dozen wickets with seven overs to spare. Root bowled four overs, conceding 27. He was wicketless, as was Anderson, who bowled seven overs, conceding 29.

Stokes bowled half-a-dozen overs, conceding 31. He picked up a wicket. Finn and Woakes bowled eight overs each, picking up a wicket. While the former conceded 50, the latter, whose spell included a maiden, conceded 43. Tredwell bowled 10 overs, including a maiden. He conceded 46, picking up a wicket.
