India made just one change to their playing eleven – Amit Mishra made way for Manoj Tiwary.
Bangladesh
made just one change to the eleven that last played the Indians – Ziaur Rahman
made way for Sohag Gazi.
On winning
the toss, Suresh Raina, India’s skipper, chose to bat.
Owing to
rain, the match was reduced to a 40-overs-a-side match.
The first
Powerplay of India’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between
the first and the 10th over. They scored 17, and lost four wickets.
Uthappa,
whose 13-ball (Rob)innings included a maiden, conceded five. Twenty-nine balls
(Hossa)into the match, he was caught by Nasir. Mashrafe Mortaza broke the eight-run
stand.
The
second-wicket pair didn’t get off the mark. Ajinkya Rahane, who faced 18 balls,
scored just three. Three balls later, he was caught by Nasir off the bowling of
Al-Amin Hossain.
Ambati
Rayudu, who faced half-a-dozen balls, scored a run. Seventeen balls later, he
was caught by Mushfiqur Rahim, Bangladesh’s skipper. Taskin Ahmed broke the
five-run stand.
Fifty-one
balls into the match, there was an interruption due to rain. India had scored
13 for the loss of three wickets at that point. While Cheteshwar Pujara was
batting on three, Manoj Tiwary hadn’t opened his account.
Tiwary, who
faced half-a-dozen balls, eventually scored just a couple. Eight balls later,
he was caught by Anamul Haque. Al-Amin broke the three-run stand.
Seventy-five
balls into the match, there was another interruption due to rain. India had
scored 37 for the loss of four wickets at that point. While Pujara had no
reason to be in seventh heaven, Raina had scored 15.
India scored
50 off 15.4 overs (94 balls). The number of extras they had conceded at that
point gave Bangladesh no reason to be in seventh heaven.
Raina, whose
run-a-ball innings included three boundaries, eventually scored 25. Fifty-three
balls after Tiwary’s dismissal, he was caught by Rahim. Shakib Al Hasan broke
the 41-run stand.
Wriddhiman Saha,
whose 21-ball innings included a couple of boundaries, scored 16. Thirty-eight
balls later, Shakib broke the 32-run stand.
Stuart
Binny, the player of the series, scored 25 off 36 balls, which included four
boundaries. He was unbeaten.
Pujara,
whose 63-ball innings included a couple of boundaries, eventually scored 27.
Seven balls later, he was trapped leg before wicket by Shakib, who broke the
one-run stand.
Axar Patel,
who faced three balls, scored a run. Seven balls later, he was caught by Rahim.
Taskin broke the run-a-ball stand.
India scored
100 off 28.3 overs (171 balls). Bangladesh had conceded a dozen extras at that
point.
Mohit Sharma,
who faced 13 balls, scored a run. Thirty-eight balls after Patel’s dismissal,
he was trapped leg before wicket by Gazi, who broke the 22-run stand.
Umesh
Yadav, who faced a couple of balls, didn’t get off the mark. He was unbeaten.
Two hundred
and six balls into India’s innings, there was another interruption due to rain.
Hence, the match ended without a result. Bangladesh eventually conceded 13
extras. India had scored 119 for the loss of nine wickets at that point.
Mahmudullah
bowled an over, conceding five. He was wicketless, as was Nasir, who bowled a
couple of boundaries, conceding 14.
Gazi, who
bowled two overs, had a reason to be in seventh heaven – he picked up a wicket,
as did Mortaza, who bowled eight overs, including a maiden. He conceded 25.
Al-Amin
bowled half-a-dozen overs, including a maiden. He conceded 23, picking up two wickets.
Ahmed bowled eight overs, including a maiden. He conceded 15, picking up two
wickets.
Shakib bowled
7.2 overs, conceding 27. He picked up three scalps.
India won
the three-match series 2-0.
