India made just one change to their playing eleven – Ravindra Jadeja made way for Dhawal Kulkarni.
Sri Lanka
made a couple of changes to the eleven that last played the Indians – Suraj
Randiv and Dhammika Prasad made way for Chaturanga de Silva and Nuwan Kulasekara.
On winning
the toss, Angelo Mathews, Sri Lanka’s skipper, chose to bat.
The first
Powerplay of Sri Lanka’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was
between the first and the 10th over. They scored 40, and lost a
couple of wickets.
Kusal
Perera, who faced Saha balls, scored four. His runs came by way of a
boundary. An over into the match, he was caught by Wriddhiman. Umesh Yadav
broke the five-run stand.
Sangakkara,
who faced a ball, didn’t get off the (Ku)mark. Seven balls later, he was caught
by Ravichandran Ashwin. Yadav broke the two-run stand.
Sri Lanka
