Sharma returns; India beat Bangladesh

India (Shar)made five changes to their playing eleven – Lokesh Rahul, Manish Pandey, Deepak Chahar, Siddarth Kaul and Khaleel Ahmed made way for Rohit (who was leading the team, and chose to field on winning the toss), Shikhar Dhawan (the player of the series), Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah and Yuzvendra Chahal.

Bangladesh made three changeS(han)to the eleven that last played the Indians – Najmul Hossain, Shakib Al Hasan and Mossadek Hossain made way for Imrul Kayes, Soumya Sarkar and Nazmul Islam.

The first Powerplay of Bangladesh’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the 10th over. They scored 65, without the loss of a wicket.

Bangladesh’s openers put on 50 off 7.4 overs (46 balls). India had conceded a couple of extras at that point. While the contribution of Liton Das, the player of the match, to the partnership was 35, Mehidy Hasan Miraz’s contribution to the partnership was 14.

The second Powerplay of Bangladesh’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the 11th and the 40th over. They scored 113, and lost five wickets.

Das’ half-century – which included half-a-dozen boundaries and a couple of sixes – came off 33 balls.

Bangladesh’s openers put on 100 off 17.5 overs (107 balls). India had conceded a couple of extras at that point. While Das’ contribution to the partnership was 73, Miraz’s contribution to the partnership was 27.

Eighteen overs into the match, the first drinks break was taken. Bangladesh had scored 102 without the loss of a wicket at that point. While Das was batting on 73, Miraz was batting on 27.

Miraz, whose 59-ball innings included three boundaries, eventually scored 32. A hundred and twenty-five balls into the chase, he was caught by Ambati Rayudu. Kedar Jadhav broke the 120-run partnership.

A hundred and forty-three balls into the match, Bangladesh sought a batting review. Kayes, the batsman, faced a dozen balls, scoring just a couple. Using the umpires’ call, it was struck down by Sri Lankan umpire Ruchira Palliyaguruge. He was trapped leg before wicket by Chahal, who broke the eight-run stand.

Das’ ton – which included 11 boundaries and a couple of sixes – came off 87 balls.

Mushfiqur Rahim, whose nine-ball innings included a boundary, scored five. Eighteen balls after Kayes’ dismissal, he was caught by Bumrah. Jadhav broke the nine-run stand.

The fourth-wicket pair put on a couple. Mohammad Mithun, who faced four balls, scored a couple. Seven balls later, Ravindra Jadeja and Chahal ran him out.

Bangladesh scored 150 off 31.3 overs (189 balls). India had conceded three extras at that point.

Mahmudullah, who faced 16 balls, scored just four. Twenty-six balls after Mithun’s dismissal, he was caught by Bumrah. Yadav broke the 12-run stand.

Thirty-five overs into the match, the second drinks break was taken. Bangladesh had scored 160 for the loss of five wickets at that point. While Das was batting on 107, Sarkar was batting on four.

The third Powerplay of Bangladesh’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the 41st and the 50th over. They scored 44, and lost five wickets.

Das, whose 117-ball innings included a dozen boundaries and a couple of sixes, eventually scored 121. Fifty-two balls after Mahmudullah’s D(hon)ismissal, he was stumped by Mahendra Singh. Yadav broke the 37-run stand.

Although his (Dho)nine-ball innings included a six, Mashrafe Mortaza, Bangladesh’s skipper, had no reason to be in seventh heaven – seven balls later, he was stumped. Yadav broke the eight-run stand.

Bangladesh scored 200 off 44.1 overs (265 balls). India had conceded four extras at that point.

The eighth-wicket pair put on 17. Islam, who faced 13 balls, had no reason to be in seventh heaven – 23 balls after Mortaza’s dismissal, Pandey, the substitute, ran him out.

The ninth-wicket put on (Dho)nine. Sarkar, whose 45-ball innings included a boundary and a six, eventually scored 33. Nine balls later, Rayudu and the man from Ranchi ran him out.

Mustafizur Rahman, who faced five balls, scored a couple. He was unbeaten.

The last-wicket pair didn’t get off the mark. Rubel Hossain, who faced a couple of balls, didn’t open his account. A couple of dot balls later, he was dismissed by Bumrah.

The number of extras they eventually conceded gave India no reason to be in seventh heaven. Bangladesh were dismissed for 222 off 48.3 overs.

Jadeja, who bowled half-a-dozen overs, conceded 31. He was wicketless, as was Kumar, who bowled seven overs, conceding 33.

Chahal bowled eight overs, including a maiden. He conceded 31, picking up a wicket.

Bumrah, who bowled 8.3 overs, conceded 39. He picked up a wicket.

Jadhav, who bowled nine overs, conceded 41. He picked up two wickets.

Yadav, who bowled 10 overs, conceded 45. He picked up three scalps.

Sharma, whose 55-ball innings included three boundaries and as many sixes, eventually scored 48. Fifty-five balls after Rayudu’s dismissal, he was caught by Islam. Rubel broke the 37-run stand.

India scored 100 off 23.1 overs (139 balls). Bangladesh had conceded three extras at that point.

The fourth-wicket pair put on 50 off 71 balls. While Karthik’s contribution to the partnership was 21, Dhoni’s contribution to it was 28. Extras’ contribution to the partnership was a couple.

Karthik, whose 61-ball innings included a boundary and a six, eventually scored 37. Eighty-four balls after Sharma’s dismissal, he was trapped leg before wicket by Mahmudullah, who broke the 54-run partnership.

A hundred and eighty-four balls into the chase, the second drinks break was taken. India had scored 137 for the loss of four wickets at that point. Dhoni was batting on 30.

India scored 150 off 33.3 overs (201 balls). Bangladesh had conceded five extras at that point.

Dhoni, whose 67-ball innings included three boundaries, eventually scored 36. Thirty-three balls after Karthik’s dismissal, he was caught by Rahim. Rahman broke the 23-run stand.

The third Powerplay of India’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the 41st and the 50th over. They scored 51, and lost a couple of wickets.

India had scored 167 for the loss of five wickets when Jadhav, who was batting on 19, retired hurt. When he resumed his innings, they had scored 212 for the loss of half-a-dozen wickets.

India scored 200 off 45.3 overs (273 balls). Bangladesh had conceded 11 extras at that point.

Jadhav, whose 27-ball innings included a boundary and a six, eventually scored 23. He was unbeaten.

Two hundred and eighty-four balls into the chase, Bangladesh sought a bowling review. Jadhav, the batsman, faced 33 balls, scoring 23. It was upheld by Palliyaguruge. He was trapped caught by Rahim. Rubel broke the 52-run partnership.

Kumar, whose 31-ball innings included a boundary and a six, scored 21. Five balls later, he was caught by Rahim. Rahman broke the two-run stand.

Yadav, who faced five balls, scored as many. He was unbeaten.

Bangladesh eventually conceded 13 extras. India, who scored 223 for the loss of seven wickets off 50 overs, won by three wickets.

Miraz bowled four wicketless overs, conceding 27.

Mahmudullah bowled half-a-dozen overs, conceding 33. He picked up a wicket, as did Islam and Mortaza, who bowled 10 overs apiece. While the former conceded 56, the latter conceded 35.

Rahman and Rubel bowled 10 overs each, picking up two scalps apiece. While the former conceded 38, the latter, whose spell included two maidens, conceded 26.
