The West Indies made just one change to the eleven
that last played the Indians – Devon Smith made way for Dwayne Bravo, who was
leading the team, and chose to field on winning the toss.
The first Powerplay of India’s innings – which was the
mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the 10th over. They
scored 39, without the loss of a wicket.
India’s openers put on 50 off 11.5 overs (71 balls).
The West Indies had conceded half-a-dozen extras at that point. While Rohit Sharma’s
contribution to the partnership was 19, Shikhar Dhawan’s contribution to it was
