India (Shar)made three changes to their playing eleven – Virender Sehwag, Zaheer Khan and Umesh Yadav made way for Rohit, Irfan Pathan and Vinay Kumar.
Sri Lanka made four Cha(mara)nges to the eleven that
last played the Indians – Thisara Perera, Angelo Mathews, Lasith Malinga and
Rangana Herath made way for Upul Tharanga, Kapugedera, Seekkuge Prasanna and
Suranga Lakmal.
On winning the toss, Mahela Jayawardene, Sri Lanka’s
skipper, inserted the Indians.
The first Powerplay of India’s innings – which was the
mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the 10th over. They
scored 43, and lost a wicket.
Tendulkar, whose 19-ball (Sach)innings included a
boundary, scored half-a-dozen. Thirty-three balls into the match, he was caught

Vinay and Ashwin bowled nine overs each, picking up
three wickets apiece. While the former conceded 55, the latter conceded 39.
Pathan bowled 8.1 overs, including a maiden. He conceded 32, picking up four
scalps.
