M S-led India are the WInners

India made no changes to their playing eleven.

The West Indies made (Ra)VI changes to the eleven that last played the Indians – Lendl Simmons, Kieran Powell, Jason Mohammed, Denesh Ramdin, Andre Russell and Anthony Martin made way for Chris Gayle, Johnson Charles, Darren Bravo, Ramnaresh Sarwan, Dwayne Bravo (who was leading the team) and Rampaul.

On winning the toss, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, India’s skipper, inserted the West Indies.

The first Powerplay of the West Indies’ innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the 10th over. They scored 55, and lost a wicket.

Chris Gayle, whose 18-ball innings included four boundaries, scored 21. Five overs into the match, he was caught by Ravichandran Ashwin. Bhuvneshwar Kumar broke the 25-run stand.

The West Indies scored 50 off 9.4 overs (58 balls). India had conceded an extra at that point.

The second-wicket pair put on 50 off 51 balls. While Charles’ contribution to the partnership was 35, Darren Bravo’s contribution to it was 13. Extras’ contribution to the partnership was a couple.

Charles’ half-century – which included seven boundaries and a six – came off 46 balls.

Seventeen overs into the match, the first drinks break was taken. The West Indies had scored 92 for the loss of a wicket at that point. While Charles was batting on 50, Darren Bravo was batting on 18.

The West Indies scored 100 off 18.5 overs (113 balls). India had conceded three extras at that point.

Charles, whose 55-ball innings included seven boundaries and a couple of sixes, eventually scored 60. Eighty-nine balls after Gayle’s dismissal, he was trapped leg before wicket by Ravindra Jadeja, the player of the match, who broke the 78-run partnership.

Twenty-two overs into the match, India sought a bowling review. Marlon Samuels was the batsman. It was upheld by Pakistani umpire Aleem Dar. The Jamaican, who faced eight balls, scored a run. He was trapped leg before wicket by Jadeja, who broke the two-run stand.

Ramnaresh Sarwan, who faced half-a-dozen balls, scored just a run. A couple of overs later, he was caught by Dhoni. Jadeja broke the four-run stand.

Darren Bravo, whose 40-ball innings included three boundaries, scored 25. Fifty-five balls later, he was stumped by Dhoni. Ashwin broke the 31-run stand.

Thirty-five overs into the match, the second drinks break was taken. The West Indies had scored 141 for the loss of five wickets at that point. While Dwayne was batting on 20, Kieron Pollard hadn’t opened his account.

The second Powerplay of the West Indies’ innings – which was the batting Powerplay – was between the 36th and the 40th over. They scored 24, and lost a wicket.

The West Indies scored 150 off 36 overs (216 balls). India had conceded three extras at that point.

Dwayne, whose 40-ball innings included three boundaries, eventually conceded 25. Twenty-eight balls later, he was caught by Jadeja. Umesh Yadav broke the 23-run stand.

Kieron Pollard, whose 32-ball innings included a couple of sixes, conceded 22. Twenty-six balls later, he was caught by Kumar. Ishant Sharma broke the eight-run stand.

Sunil, who faced eight balls, scored just a couple. N(ar)ine balls later, he was caught by Karthik. Jadeja broke the eight-run stand.

Rampaul had no reason to be in seventh heaven – he scored just a couple. Eleven balls later, Jadeja broke the three-run stand.

The West Indies scored 200 off 48.1 overs (289 balls). India had conceded eight extras at that point.

Darren Sammy’s half-century – which included four boundaries and as many sixes – came off 33 balls.

The last-wicket pair put on 50 off 27 balls. While Sammy’s contribution to the partnership was 51, Kemar Roach didn’t contribute to it. Extras didn’t contribute to the partnership.

Sammy, whose 35-ball innings included five boundaries and four sixes, eventually scored 56. He was unbeaten, as was Roach, who faced eight balls, failing to open his account.

India eventually conceded eight extras. The West Indies scored 233 for the loss of nine wickets off 50 wickets. Virat Kohli, who bowled four wicketless overs, conceded 26.

Kumar, who bowled eight overs, conceded 32. He picked up a wicket. Yadav and Ashwin bowled nine overs each, picking up a wicket apiece. While the former conceded 54, the latter, whose spell included a couple of maidens, conceded 36. Ishant bowled 10 overs, including a maiden. He conceded 43, picking up a wicket.

Jadeja bowled 10 overs, including a couple of wickets. He conceded 36, picking up five scalps.

The first Powerplay of India’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the 10th over. They scored 66, without the loss of a wicket.

India’s openers put on 50 off 7.4 overs (46 balls). The West Indies had conceded an extra at that point. While Rohit Sharma’s contribution to the partnership was 28, Shikhar Dhawan’s contribution to it was 23.

In fact, the West Indies had sought a batting review at that point. It was upheld by New Zealand umpire Tony Hill.

Dhawan’s half-century – which included half-a-dozen boundaries – came off 45 balls.

Kohli, whose 18-ball innings included four boundaries, scored 22. Twenty-seven balls after Rohit’s dismissal, Narine broke the 26-run stand.

A hundred and twenty-three balls later, India sought a batting review. Karthik was the batsman. It was upheld by Dar.

India scored 150 off 22.4 overs (136 balls). The West Indies had conceded half-a-dozen extras at that point.

India scored 200 off 35 overs (210 balls). The West Indies had conceded nine extras at that point.

Dhawan, whose 107-ball innings included 10 boundaries and a six, eventually scored 102. He was unbeaten, as was Karthik, who eventually scored 51 off 54 balls, which included eight boundaries.

The West Indies had conceded nine extras. India, who scored 236 for the loss of a couple of wickets off 39.1 overs, won by eight wickets with 65 balls to spare.

Gayle, who bowled a wicketless over, conceded 11. Pollard, who bowled 3.1 wicketless overs, conceded 21. Sammy and Samuels bowled four wicketless overs apiece. While the former conceded 23, the latter conceded 17.

Dwayne, who bowled five wicketless overs, conceded 36. Roach and Rampaul bowled half-a-dozen wicketless overs apiece. While the former conceded 47, the latter conceded 28.
