Rain disappoints Kohli-led India, WI

India (Shar)made three changes to their playing eleven – Rohit, Ravindra Jadeja and Jasprit Bumrah made way for Ajinkya Rahane and the Yadavs (One-day International debutant Kuldeep and Umesh).

The West Indies made nine changes to the (Migu)eleven that last played the Indians – Dwayne Smith, Chris Gayle, Marlon Samuels, Denesh Ramdin, Lendl Simmons, Daren Sammy, Andre Russell, Jerome Taylor and Kemar Roach made way for Evin Lewis, Kieran Powell, Shai Hope, Jason Mohammed, Roston Chase, Ashley Nurse, Devendra Bishoo, Alzarri Joseph and Cummins.

Rahane, whose 78-ball innings included eight boundaries, eventually scored 62. Twenty-five overs into the match, he was caught by Holder. Joseph broke the 132-run partnership.

India scored 150 off 27.4 overs (166 balls). The West Indies had conceded four extras at that point.

A hundred and ninety-one balls into the match, India sought a batting review. Dhawan, the batsman, eventually scored 87 off 92 balls, which included eight boundaries and a couple of sixes. It was struck down by Sri Lankan umpire Kumar Dharmasena. He was trapped leg before wicket by Bishoo, who broke the 36-run stand.

Thirty-four overs into the match, the second drinks break was taken. India had scored 174 for the loss of a couple of wickets at that point. While Virat Kohli, India’s skipper, was batting on 21, Yuvraj Singh hadn’t opened his account.

Yuvraj, who faced 10 balls, eventually scored just four. Twenty-eight balls after Dhawan’s dismissal, he was caught by Lewis. Holder broke the 17-run stand.

Thirty-eight overs into the match, there was an interruption due to rain. India had scored 189 for the loss of three wickets at that point. While Kohli was batting on 30, Mahendra Singh Dhoni had scored a couple.

Two hundred and thirty-six balls (39.2 overs) into the match, there was another interruption due to rain. India had scored 199 for the loss of three wickets at that point. The match ended without a result. While Kohli was batting on 32, the man from Ranchi was batting on (Dho)nine.

While Kohli’s 47-ball innings included a boundary, Dhoni’s run-a-ball innings included a boundary. Both were unbeaten.

The West Indies eventually conceded five extras.

Jonathan Carter bowled eight wicketless balls, conceding five.

Nurse bowled four wicketless overs, including a maiden. He conceded 22.

Cummins bowled eight wicketless overs, conceding 46.

Joseph and Holder bowled eight overs each, picking up a wicket apiece. While the former conceded 53, the latter conceded 34.

Bishoo bowled 10 overs, conceding 39. He picked up a scalp.
