Kohli-led India beat WI again

India made no changes to their playing eleven.

The West Indies made three changes to the eleven that last played the Indians – Kieran Powell, Jonathan Carter and Alzarri Joseph made way for a couple of One-day International debutants [Kyle Hope (Shai’s older brother) and Kesrick Williams] and Rovman Powell.

(Jas)On winning the toss, Holder, the West Indies’ skipper, inserted the visitors.

Owing to rain, the ground was wet at the start of India’s innings.

The first Powerplay of India’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the 10th over. They scored 34, and lost a couple of wickets.

Shikhar Dhawan, who faced half-a-dozen balls, scored a couple. Sixteen balls into the match, he was caught by Roston Chase. Cummins broke the (Migu)eleven-run stand.

Virat Kohli, India’s skipper, scored 11 off 22 balls, which included a couple of boundaries. Forty-one balls later, he was caught by Kyle. Holder broke the 23-run stand.

The second Powerplay of India’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the 11th and the 40th over. They scored 117, and lost a wicket.

India scored 50 off 14.1 overs (85 balls). The West Indies had conceded a couple of extras at that point.

Sixteen overs into the match, the first drinks break was taken. India had conceded 55 for the loss of a couple of extras at that point. While Ajinkya Rahane was batting on 32, Yuvraj Singh was batting on eight.

India scored 100 off 26.1 overs (157 balls). The West Indies had conceded three extras at that point.

A hundred and fifty-eight balls into the match, the West Indies sought a bowling review. Yuvraj, the batman, eventually scored 39 off 55 balls, which included four boundaries. It was upheld by Sri Lankan umpire Kumar Dharmasena. He was trapped leg before wicket by Devendra Bishoo, who broke the 66-run partnership.

Rahane’s half-century – which included four boundaries – came off 83 balls.

Thirty-five overs into the match, the second drinks break was taken. India had conceded 131 for the loss of three extras at that point. While Ajinkya Rahane was batting on 59, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the player of the match, was batting on 15.

India scored 150 off 39.4 overs (238 balls). The West Indies had conceded five extras at that point.
