just one change to theiR Playing eleven – Ishant made way for Singh. Bangladesh
(Moham)made six changes to the (Ras)eleven that last played the Indians – Javed
Omar, Habibul Bashar, Aftab Ahmed, Shakib Al Hasan, Rafique and Syed made way
for Shahriar Nafees, Raqibul Hasan, Alok Kapali, Mahmudullah, Farhad Reza and
Dolar Mahmud.
On winning the
toss, Mohammad Ashraful, Bangladesh’s skipper, chose to bat. Their openers didn’t
get off the mark. Tamim, who faced five (Iq)balls, D(hon)idn’t open his account.
Five dot balls into the match, he was caught by Mahendra Singh, India’s skipper,
off the bowling of Praveen Kumar.
Nafees, whose
18-ball innings included a boundary, scored nine. Twenty-seven balls later, R P
broke the 17-run stand.
The second Powerplay
of Bangladesh’s innings was between the 11th and the 15th
over. Fourteen overs into the match, the first drinks break was taken.
Bangladesh had scored 49 for the loss of a couple of wickets at that point.
While Ashraful was batting on 17, Hasan was batting on 16.
Bangladesh scored

Ashraful, whose

balls after Mahmudullah’s dismissal, Dhoni and Rohit Sharma ran him out.
The (Dho)ninth-wicket
pair put on 13. Mashrafe Mortaza, whose 12-ball innings included a six, scored
13. Fourteen balls later, the man from Ranchi ran him out. Abdur Razzak, whose
run-a-ball innings included a boundary, scored eight. He was unbeaten.
The last-wicket

India eventually

Yusuf, who bowled

latter, whose spell included a couple of maidens, conceded 32.
Irfan, who bowled
8.5 overs, conceded 48. He picked up a couple of wickets. R P bowled 10 overs,
including a maiden. He conceded 46, picking up three scalps.
India’s openers scored
50 off 7.3 overs (45 overs). Bangladesh hadn’t conceded any extras at that
point. While the contribution of Gautam Gambhir, the player of the match, was
18, Sehwag’s contribution to it was 33.
Sehwag’s
half-century – which took 44 minutes and included seven boundaries and a six –
came off 29 balls. He eventually scored 59. His 32-ball innings included seven
boundaries and a couple of sixes. Ten overs into the chase, he was caught by
Iqbal. Mahmud broke the 85-run partnership.
The second
