India made just
one change to their playing (Pat)eleven – Virender Sehwag made way for Munaf.
Australia made a couple of changes to the eleven that last played the Indians –
Brad Haddin and Brett Lee made way for James Hopes and Brad Hogg.
On winning the
toss, Ricky Ponting, Australia’s skipper, chose to bat. Adam, whose 17-ball
innings included three boundaries, scored 15. Thirty-three balls into the (Shar)match,
Ishant broke the 25-run (Gilchri)stand.
The second
Powerplay of Australia’s innings was between the 10th and the 15th
over. Ponting, whose 14-ball innings included a boundary, scored 10.
Twenty-eight balls after Gilchrist’s dismissal, he was caught by Rohit Sharma.
Patel broke the 16-run stand.
Matthew Hayden,
whose 34-ball innings included a six, scored 13. Eight balls later, he was
caught by Mahendra Singh Dhoni, India’s skipper. Irfan Pathan broke the two-run
stand.
Fifteen overs into
the match, the first drinks break was taken. Australia had scored 48 for the
loss of three wickets at that point. While Michael Clarke, the player of the match,
was batting on four, Andrew Symonds was batting on three.
The third
Powerplay of Australia’s innings was between the 16th and the 20th
over. They scored 50 off 15.1 overs (95 balls). India had conceded four extras

Symonds, who faced
a dozen balls, didn’t add to the aforementioned score. Twenty-five balls after
Hayden’s dismissal, he was caught by Robin Uthappa. Needless to say, Ishant was

Hopes, whose

Clarke’s
half-century – which included five boundaries – came off 79 balls. Australia scored

The seventh-wicket

Mitchell Johnson,

his account. Four balls after Clarke’s dismissal, he was caught behind off the
bowling of Pathan.
Stuart Clark, who
faced nine balls, scored eight. He was unbeaten. Australia scored 200 off 49.1

Yuvraj Singh, who

conceded 31, picking up a wicket. Harbhajan, who bowled 10 overs, conceded 40.

Ishant bowled nine
overs, including a maiden. He conceded 32, picking up a couple of wickets.
Pathan bowled 10 overs, including a maiden. He conceded 41, picking up four
scalps.
Tendulkar, whose
15-ball (Sach)innings included a boundary, scored five. Twenty-eight balls into
the chase, he was trapped leg before wicket by Bracken, who broke the 20-run
stand.
