While India played
an unchanged eleven, South Africa made a couple of changes to the eleven that
last P(au)layed the Indians – Adam Bacher and Adams made way for Andrew Hudson
and Pat Symcox. On winning the toss, Sachin Tendulkar, India’s skipper, chose to
bat.
Their openers put on 43. Sourav Ganguly, whose 43-ball innings included a couple of boundaries, scored 18. Symcox ran him out. Tendulkar, whose 27-ball innings included half-a-dozen boundaries, scored 32. He was caught by Jonty Rhodes. Lance Klusener broke the 11-run stand.
