Hardik-led India WIn the series

India made a couple of changes to their playing (Pat)eleven – Axar and Umran Malik made way for Ruturaj Gaikwad and Jaydev Unadkat.

The West Indies made no changes to the eleven that last played the Indians.

On winning the toss, Hardik Pandya, India’s skipper, chose to field.

The first Powerplay of India’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the 10th over. They scored 73, without the loss of a wicket.

India’s openers put on 50 off 7.5 overs (47 balls). The West Indies had conceded a couple of extras at that point. While the contribution of Ishan Kishan, the player of the series, to the partnership was 30, the contribution of Shubman Gill, the player of the match, to it was 19.

The second Powerplay of India’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the 11th and the 40th over. They scored 174, and lost four wickets.

India’s openers put on 100 off 13.2 overs (80 balls). The West Indies had conceded 11 extras at that point. While Kishan’s contribution to the partnership was 50, Gill’s contribution to it was 39.

Kishan’s half-century – which included five boundaries and a couple of sixes – came off 43 balls.

Gill, whose 92-ball innings included 11 boundaries, eventually scored 85. Forty-one balls later, he was caught by Cariah. Gudakesh Motie broke the 21-run stand. 

The third Powerplay of India’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the 41st and the 50th over. They scored 104, and lost a wicket.

India scored 250 off 40.3 overs (243 balls). The West Indies had conceded 13 extras at that point.

The fifth-wicket pair put on 50 off 37 balls. While Hardik’s contribution to the partnership was 22, Suryakumar Yadav’s contribution to it was 25. Extras’ contribution to the partnership was four.

India scored 300 off 45.5 overs (275 balls). The West Indies had conceded 17 extras at that point. That was, incidentally, the number of extras they eventually conceded.

Hardik’s half-century – which included three boundaries and as many sixes – came off 45 balls.

He eventually scored 70 off 52 balls, which included four boundaries and five sixes. He was unbeaten.

Suryakumar Yadav, whose 30-ball innings included a couple of boundaries and as many sixes, scored 35. Forty-nine balls after Gill’s dismissal, he was caught by Cariah. Shepherd broke the 65-run partnership.

Ravindra Jadeja, who scored eight balls, had a reason to be in seventh heaven – he was unbeaten.

India scored 350 off 50 overs (300 balls).

In fact, they scored 351 for the loss of five wickets off 50 overs.

Kyle Mayers, who bowled four overs, conceded 25. He was wicketless, as was Jayden Seales, who bowled eight overs, conceding 75.

Cariah, who bowled eight overs, conceded 58. He picked up a wicket, as did Joseph and Motie bowled 10 overs apiece. While the former conceded 77, the latter, which included a maiden, conceded 38.

Shepherd, who bowled 10 overs, conceded 73. He picked up a couple of scalps.

Keacy Carty, whose 12-ball innings included a boundary, scored half-a-dozen. Twenty-six balls after Hope’s dismissal, he was caught by Gill. Unadkat broke the 18-run stand.

Hetmyer, who faced half-a-dozen balls, scored four. His runs came by way of a boundary. Seven balls later, he was caught by Suryakumar. Shardul Thakur broke the five-run stand.

Shepherd, who faced eight balls, scored as many. His runs came by way of boundaries. A couple of overs later, he was caught by Unadkat. Thakur broke the 10-run stand.

The West Indies scored 50 off 13.5 overs (83 balls). India had conceded four extras at that point.

Fourteen overs into the chase, the drinks break was taken. The West Indies conceded 50 for the loss of half-a-dozen wickets at that point. Alick Athanaze was batting on 19.

A hundred and seven balls (17.4 overs) into the chase, India sought a bowling review. They challenged the decision for a wicket. Cariah was the batsman. It was struck down by Reifer.

The West Indies scored 150 off 33.5 overs (205 balls). The number of extras they had conceded at that point gave India no reason to be in seventh heaven. But that was the number of extras they eventually conceded.

Thirty-five overs into the chase, the West Indies sought a batting review. They challenged the decision for a wicket. Seales was the batsman. It was upheld by Gough.

Seales, who faced nine balls, scored just a run. Thirteen balls after Joseph’s dismissal, Thakur broke the eight-run stand.

The West Indies, who were dismissed for 151 off 35.3 overs, lost by 200 runs.

Hardik’s and Jadeja’s wicketless spells included a maiden. While the former, who bowled four overs, conceded 13, the latter, who bowled five overs, conceded 29.

Unadkat, who bowled five overs, conceded 16. He picked up a wicket.

Kuldeep bowled eight overs, including three maidens. He conceded 25, picking up a couple of wickets.

Mukesh bowled seven overs, including a maiden. He conceded 30, picking up three wickets.

Thakur, who bowled 6.3 overs, conceded 37. He picking up four scalps.
