M S-led India WIn series

Neither India nor the West Indies made any changes to their playing elevens.

On winning the toss, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, India’s skipper, inserted the visitors.

The first Powerplay of the West Indies’ innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the 10th over. They scored 39, and lost a wicket.

Johnson Charles, whose 20-ball innings included a couple of boundaries, scored 11. Twenty-nine balls into the match, Bhuvneshwar Kumar broke the 20-run stand.

The West Indies scored 50 off 11.3 overs (69 balls). India hadn’t conceded any extras at that point.

The second-wicket pair put on 50 off 56 balls. While Kieran Powell’s contribution to the partnership was 26, Marlon Samuels’ contribution to it was 25. Extras didn’t contribute to the partnership.

Fifteen overs into the match, the first drinks break was taken. The West Indies had scored 72 for the loss of a wicket at that point. While Powell was batting on 36, Samuels was batting on 25.

Dwayne, the West Indies’ skipper, faced 11 balls, scoring just four. Seventeen balls later, he was caught by Ashwin. Mohammed Shami Br(av)oke the nine-run stand.

Bhuvneshwar, who bowled eight overs, conceded 42. He picked up a wicket, as did Jadeja and Shami (whose spell included a maiden), who bowled 10 overs each, conceding 49 apiece. Ashwin, who bowled 10 overs, conceded 45. He picked up a couple of scalps.

Yuvraj’s half-century – which included half-a-dozen boundaries – came off 68 balls. He eventually scored 55 off 74 balls, which included seven boundaries. A hundred and twenty-nine balls after Kohli’s dismissal, he was caught by Dwayne. Sunil Narine broke the run-a-ball partnership.

Dhawan’s ton – which included 18 boundaries – came off 73 balls.

India, who scored 266 for the loss of five wickets off 46.1 overs, won by five wickets with 23 balls to spare.

Sammy and Simmons bowled three wicketless overs apiece. While the former conceded 22, the latter conceded 17. Veerasammy Permaul bowled 4.1 wicketless overs, conceding 31. Jason Holder bowled half-a-dozen wicketless overs, conceding 47.

Narine bowled 10 overs, including a maiden. He conceded 32, picking up a wicket. Dwayne and Rampaul bowled 10 overs each, picking up two scalps apiece. While the former conceded 57, the latter, whose spell included a maiden, conceded 55.

India won the three-match series 2-1.
